Resources from the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) offer valuable training materials and support to bolster cybersecurity measures.

Technological advancements also play a critical role. Facial recognition techniques such as motion analysis, texture analysis, thermal imaging, and 3D depth analysis are essential in distinguishing real from synthetic faces. These methods, though, face challenges like continuous evolution of deepfake techniques and biases in AI models. Despite these hurdles, companies must invest in R&D to advance facial recognition algorithms and integrate them with biometric and non-biometric technologies.

Legislation is another vital component in the fight against deepfakes. The U.S. Congress has made strides with the DEEPFAKES Accountability Act and Senator Durbin’s DEFIANCE Act, aiming to establish a legal framework to address deepfake misuse.
